前 言

全球性专业石材展览会,第二十四届中国厦门国际石材展于2024年3月16-19日在厦门国际会展中心隆重举行。随着全球市场回归,国内外上下游产业链,设计行业、跨界平台、行业媒体齐聚厦门,以更广阔的视角,更多元的表达,探讨新业态之下的石材未来趋势,推动行业的共生与发展。

创新的设计是激活石材的关键,设计可以充分挖掘石材的特点,将其运用于不同领域中,成就新的可能。如何在人居设计中激活石材,提升石材的价值和吸引力,成为了当下行业关注的重要话题。

作为设计师和石材品牌,他们对于激活石材,有着哪些设计实践及创新思考?对于未来的石材应用趋势又有哪些观点?

2024年,人居空间发展论坛以“石材品牌与人居设计的共生实践”为主题,特邀策展设计师与石材行业品牌代表共同对话,通过设计师和石材品牌的讨论及对话,提供一个交流的平台,共同探索如何在人居空间中激活石材,赋予石材新的活力,创造理想人居环境。


3月16日,人居空间发展论坛(一)在厦门国际会展中心D1馆论坛区如期展开。作为人居空间设计展主策展人、梁志天设计集团(SLD)创始人梁志天先生以视频的形式向大会送上祝福与致辞。

梁志天先生表示设计是一种力量,是一种可以打破界限、探索无限可能性,推动改变的力量。这正好跟今年「厦门国际石材展」的主题“面聊”以及「厦门人居设计生活节」的主题“To Activate(激活)”互相呼应。期望透过这个难得的机会,让大家面对面的交流、沟通与碰撞,彼此启发、彼此推动,寻找、激活更多的可能性,带来更多的创新与突破,为行业、为社会带来更多的价值。

随后,人居空间设计展的联合策展人刘荣禄国际空间设计创始人刘荣禄先生、纬图设计创始人设计总监赵睿先生、ACE DESIGN创始人设计总监谢辉女士、近境制作设计总监唐忠汉先生、梁志天设计师有限公司设计董事黄启升先生带来了本次策展空间的设计分享,并与联合策展的石材品牌的代表里外石业联合创始人黄剑锋先生、汉荣石业品牌总监袁俊赟先生、锦盛石业副总经理陈进怡女士、英良集团总裁齐飞先生、贝尼思慕总经理周珊珊女士及特邀主持人薄雾馆time新媒体平台仵文悦女士就本次合作展开对话,谈及此次共同策展,大家感慨良多,并表示这些经验不仅丰富了彼此的视野,更为未来的发展提供了更多的思路。


 

“宇宙,对许多人而言,是深邃且略显冰冷的,但我却认为它蕴含着巨大的生命力。因此,我选择了“宇宙的呼吸”作为象征,来呼应展览的主题。

在我们这个时代,对宇宙的探索仍无止境。我希望进入这个空间的人,能感受到空间无尽探索的可能性,体验神秘与情感的交织。我使用桃红色的皮毛布置空间,通过材料的反差,譬如柔软与坚硬,展现出石材内在能量的迸发。

“空间深处,有一个装置,仿佛陨石般神圣。它不仅是宇宙物质能量的具象化表象,更是时空的演绎者和传承者,象征着宇宙的律动和能量的回馈。忽明忽暗的灯光,如同呼吸和脉搏,让人与宇宙产生共振。

这个空间融合了石材、皮毛、灯光和声音,营造了一个神秘而神圣的氛围。在进入之前,它就像是一个谜团,吸引着你去探索。而当你真正置身其中,你会被这种神圣的空间所感动,仿佛回到了宇宙的母体,感受到舒适、安全和温暖。我所创造的,不仅仅是一个空间,更是一个能量流动的宇宙微观。每一处都弥漫着宇宙的律动,人在进入时感受到情绪的蓄积,随后在空间中释放,亲近而深刻。

 

“意大利木纹是一款古典自然的石材,纹理非常淳朴,能够很好地表现出自然石块的层次感,所以我一直在思考如何展现这款石材最自然的特性。每次去矿山,看到那些未经加工的方料,那种纯粹而有力的冲击感都让我深受触动。将石材打造成一种纯粹而有力的形态,就像一层层叠加的岩层,呈现出一种独特的美感。基于这些思考,我形成了初步的概念图。”

“整体像从矿山中直接切割出的方料一样,展现出材料的原始纹理和特性,保持那种源自山间的纯净感。最初,我们计划直接利用整块料进行创作,但后面我们又增加了一个产品,为其增添了层次感。同时,与常见的横条纹排版不同,我们采用下面重、上面轻,纹理由密到浅的设计,这样看起来更自然、更不刻意。

除此之外,考虑到了展场的整体氛围和观众的体验,我们还设计了茶桌等元素;光线则是从通过模拟现场的灯光条件去做设计,使空间更加亲切和舒适。设计的目的不是为了炫耀技巧,而是为了展现石材的本质和美感。因此,在设计过程中,我们始终围绕这个初衷进行筛选和调整。

 

“这款名为‘印象拉菲’的石料,初次接触时,它的奢华感与我往常的风格大相径庭,当时我想了很久,不知道从何下手。那时,我恰好前往新疆,踏足塔克拉玛干沙漠,沙漠的壮丽景色与印象拉菲的奢华石料在我心中产生了奇妙的共鸣。

细看这款石料,它表面的纹理仿佛蕴含了山川河流、湖泊与大地黄沙的机理,透露出远古的气息和原始的野性之美。于是我决定将沙漠与石料元素相融合,成为我这次策展的主题,就是我们最早栖居的洞穴,象征着人类最初的栖息地,位于黄沙之中。”

“为了营造原始状态的空间体验,我特意选用了黄沙作为辅助材料,还加入了一些柔软的元素,以打破石料本身的坚硬与冰冷感,使空间更具柔性与温度。同时,为了营造一个安静的空间环境,我特意将展位入口设计的非常狭小,以隔绝外界的喧嚣。走进展位,人们可以感受到印象拉菲石料本身散发的华丽感,但通过空间的设计,让这种华丽感得以弱化,与整个空间融为一体。

它不仅仅是一个展示石料的空间,更是一个能够唤醒人们感知体系的体验场所。在这个快消的时代,人们的感知体系已经弱化,更需要一种能够触动心灵、唤醒感知的体验。我希望通过这个展览,能够让人们重新认识到自然与材质的美,重新思考我们的生活方式和感知方式。

 

“我们期望通过时间的维度来重新诠释石材独特的魅力,展现其在多元应用中的设计风貌。石材与时间之间的交织,如同时间的沉淀,赋予其深厚的内涵。在我们的空间设计中,首先呈现的是一个转换的空间,旨在营造一种美术馆或博物馆的氛围。当人们步入其中,他们将被吸引至一个橱窗前,那里演绎着可能因时间流转而形成的废墟景象,或是时间静止时的独特韵味。我们希望通过这样的设计,让人们能够深刻感受到石材与时间交织所创造出的独特魅力。”

“在设计过程中,我们巧妙地运用了一堵至关重要的中间墙体。重新处理了这些石材,它如同经过像素切割的石头,石材的凹凸进退呈现出新的次序,为它们赋予了新的可能性与生命,形成了独特的视觉效果。在空间设计中,我们也采用了室内建筑的手法,通过堆叠不同的盒子来营造出丰富的层次,为进入空间提供了独特的方式。同时利用不同的切割和加工方式,石材得以展现出全新的表达。

石材中蕴藏着千万年的岁月痕迹,我们希望通过这次设计,能够将其中的感动表达出来。

 

“今年是我第四次参与人居空间设计展,这次梁先生对展览的主题‘To Activate 激活’主题寄予厚望。同时,他也提出了几个关键要求:一是要通过本次展览,推送石材产业的发展;二是要控制成本及可回收再展览,坚持环保及可持续发展理念;三是希望展览内容通俗易懂,适合各个年龄段的观众。面对这些要求,我感觉任重道远。这四年来,我们的每一次策展都得到了各方的鼎力支持。对此,我希望在这一次的展览中,以特别的方式向所有支持我们的人致敬。”

“十年前,南京青奥会的开幕式给我留下了深刻印象,年轻人所传递出的正能量至今仍在我脑海中回荡,这种团结的力量,正是我希望在这次展览中呈现的。所以,本次在与贝尼思慕的合作中,我们运用了八款意大利石材,每一款石材都独具魅力,通过将这些石材巧妙地融合在一起,打造出一个有趣的艺术空间。

同时,我们通过多面镜子形成折射,最终呈现出令人惊喜的效果。希望通过这样的方式,将大家紧密地团结在一起,共同为石材行业的发展贡献力量。当看到大家手牵手转圈、包括小朋友、外国的朋友都纷纷拍照留念时,我非常开心,这正是我们所追求的,一种宽广、包容、充满活力的氛围。



主持人:今年刘老师的策展主题是宇宙的呼吸,大家也能够看到空间中宇宙、陨石元素的表达。您觉得这次选用的石材本身的特性和宇宙之间有哪些关联?

刘荣禄:当初我们构想宇宙的概念时,深受大爆炸间孕育生命的启发。我们选用了瑞吉灰石材,其深邃的灰色调与微微闪耀的金片质感,仿佛描绘出大爆炸后宇宙的核心。所以我想用这样的石材来表达宇宙所带给人们的感觉,展现出宇宙那种从无到有、从静止到律动的生命力。

瑞吉灰石材的宁静特质,能在空间中创造出多样化的表情与质感。从厚薄度的变化到面材的多种表现形式,它都展现了无尽的可能性。这样的多样性不仅丰富了设计的元素,更让我们对石材的潜力有了更深的理解。

主持人:作为一家矿山资源公司,黄总希望通过这次展览找到一些什么答案?您觉得现场给您带来哪些意外的惊喜?

黄剑锋:我想说的更多是惊喜,是来自于刘老师的作品表达里面。瑞吉灰是来自摩洛哥北非的矿山,它是一个沉积岩,材质非常的坚硬,所谓的深邃就是因为它的色泽是深黑色,基底里面有沉积,也里面有一些化石,而且碰巧的是他的矿山在摩洛哥生产金矿的一个产区,所以板面洋溢着闪耀点,刘老师的主题《宇宙的呼吸》,他从材料的运用到渲染烘托,给人们以想象,如在星际苍穹畅游般,这个是我特别惊喜的地方。

第二,在我们的认知里,对石材的运用还是比较有限,这一次从场景里面的构造,刘老师运用的是皮毛,而且特别是洋溢的粉,这个让我特别意外,但是又很贴合整个场景的感觉。让我觉得原来石材可以这么玩,原来石材另外一种美是要通过不同的维度,不同的想法去激发出来的,这是我两个特别惊喜的地方。

 

主持人:在今年的展览中,能够看到冫争用最少的内容、最简洁的手法呈现了空间,克制、严谨也是赵老师在设计中的关键词。但设计中看起来越简单的东西背后承载的内容可能越复杂或者说越有难度,您觉得从设计到落地的过程中,是不是也给企业提出了很多新难题?

赵睿:我认为对于这些优秀的厂家来说,技术上的挑战并不大。如今,中国石材企业在全球加工和技术方面已具备相当高的水平,因此技术层面并不是问题。唯一的挑战可能在于展览的整体预算方面,因此,我们主要讨论的是资金问题,而非技术难度。

主持人:我们知道厦门人居空间展今年第四年,汉荣也是第四次参加人居空间设计展了,在这个过程中,袁总觉得人居空间与石材企业之间的关系发生了哪些改变?汉荣发生了哪些改变?

袁俊赟:因为我们是传统的制造型企业,所以我们对设计和艺术的理解没有那么明确,每一次参展都是设计老师在引领我们去学习去尝试一些新的东西。

像刚才赵老师说没有难度,其实有一个很重要的原因是设计师给我们的图纸,我们可以直接拿去施工,他会连一毫米的伸缩缝都会给考虑好,所以当时我们看到这个图纸就很惊讶,惊讶图纸所呈现的细节度。所以每一次人居展,都能带给我们不同的收获。

 

主持人:我们看到谢辉老师的分享,包括之前的作品是比较少用石材的,那经历过这一次的合作,以后会多石材吗?

谢辉:我觉得会,但更多是巧用。石材是大自然的馈赠,它历经了很多时间才沉积下来,它本身的美是非常独特的。我们作为专业的设计师,如果用得不好,会造成很多的铺张浪费。所以我们应该更理性地去思考,去探索,去有节制地使用好石材,让石材在空间中起到画龙点睛的作用。

主持人:陈总在石材行业这么多年,您觉得对于企业来说,可以通过何种方式让经典款焕发新的生命力?您觉得在石材界有所谓流行趋势一说吗?

陈进怡:石材作为大自然的馈赠,它的颜色、纹路,包括给人的感知,来源于自然给予我们的能量,就像谢辉老师说的,她在看到印象拉菲的第一眼会觉得冲击感很强。但经过反复去感受材料后,还可以去理解这款材料背后带给我们的一些东西。

今年的展厅设计,刚刚听了谢辉老师的分享,再次感受到她在十年间从大量运用材料到现在对材料深刻理解的转变。这对我们材料人来说是一次全新的思考。作为材料商,我们往往更关注材料的本身,如材质、颜色等流行趋势,以及不同空间对材料的需求差异。但这次的合作,让我们重新认识到石材可以以另一种形式被感知与应用。谢辉老师所提到的‘激活’与‘唤醒’,都是动词,我深有体会。她强调的不是用材料堆砌空间,而是希望人们在空间中能感受自然、回归内心。这种设计理念的核心,深深打动了我。

 

主持人:从唐老师的分享中,我们可以感受到您对石材的痴迷,您觉得在人居空间的塑造中,不同的石材能否表达出哪些不同的情感与性格?而这些也正是其他材料所无法替代的?

唐忠汉:设计中,材料无疑是至关重要的元素。我们一直在追寻石材之美,这不仅是设计的探索,更是从表象到内在机理的深化认知。原本我们可能只欣赏其风格,但如今,我们更能感受到时间在其上留下的痕迹,这亦反映了我们对设计的独到见解。每个设计师的内心都蕴藏着细腻的情感。

在运用材质时,我们坚守的原则是真实可靠。特别是在当今时代,我们更倾向于选择天然、真实的材料,而非塑料制品。这样的材料具有温度,当我们与之接触时,它会给予我们反馈和互动。这种真实可靠的材料是我们营造设计氛围的关键元素,它赋予人们安全感和踏实感,这也是我们这次合作中一个的体验。

主持人:目前中国很多石材企业可能暂时不能称之为品牌,在大众心智中还没有留下深刻印记,齐总觉得让石材企业成为品牌的必要条件是什么?

齐飞:石材产业在中国历经三十余载,其发展历程充满挑战。尽管石材在建材领域是一个很小的板块,但其特殊性——不可控性、重资产特性,使其在室内空间中扮演重要角色。然而,长期以来,石材产业一直缺乏明确的出口,缺乏与大众的直接沟通。

随着产业人员的迭代与更新,我们开始意识到品牌、体验与情感传递的重要性。近十年,我们借助各种媒介,包括新媒体,努力将石材的魅力展现给更多人。我们坚信,只有通过设计,石材的价值才能得到真正提升,从单纯的硬装材料转变为富有温度与情感的元素。

我们希望石材产业能够更广泛地接触大众,而不仅仅作为中间渠道品牌。为此,设计成为关键。我们行业需要拥抱设计,让更多人领略到石材之美。今天,我很高兴地看到,一些设计师和媒体朋友对石材产生了浓厚兴趣,他们开始关注并谈论英良等石材品牌,看到了石材产业的突破与进步。这无疑是令人欣喜的。

 

主持人:黄老师今年的策展主题是“共鸣”,您希望在这个石材打造的空间中和观众达成什么样的共鸣?您觉得人类和石材之间会有哪些共鸣?

黄启升:我觉得石材不局限于其品种,它是大自然的一部分,人与石材的关系,实则为人与自然的微妙联系。因此,在这次展览中,我设计了一个人像造型,旨在将这种天然材料与人的形象相融合。这正是我对梁先生要求的回应,希望让三岁到八十岁的观众都能直观感受到这个信息。期望通过这一设计,实现人与自然的和谐共融,这不仅是艺术的追求,更是我们每个人的责任。

主持人:我们也看到品牌对设计的关注度和投入,从周总的角度来看,企业对于设计是不是非常重视?当设计师提出方案和创想的时候,贝尼思慕会从哪些维度综合考量,为成就设计师的落地提供解决方案?

周珊珊:我们认为好的材料并不仅限于作为建筑构件,其内在的生命力远超其成本价值。我们致力于将其塑造成品牌,发挥大自然赋予的独特魅力。设计在此过程中扮演着关键角色,它能有效激发材料潜在的生命力,使其焕发出新的光彩。

在黄老师的展位中,我们就深刻体会到了这一点。作品从构思到呈现,都充满了惊喜,同事们在布展过程中的兴奋与投入,也证明了设计的魅力。所以,在与设计师的合作中,我们努力将他们的创意和想法付诸实践,力求还原设计的精髓。

在黄老师的设计中,巧妙地将坚硬的材料与人的情感相结合,实现了人与自然的和谐互动。我们看到了挑战与创新的完美结合。虽然看似简单的人形和叠塔式结构,但在实际操作中却充满了难度。最终,我们采用了超薄石材工艺,将钢结构隐藏在木结构内部,再用超薄石材覆盖,既保证了安全性又展现了设计的巧思。

厦门人居空间发展论坛,作为厦门人居设计生活节的重要组成部分,旨在通过设计师与石材企业代表间的深入对话与思想碰撞,为相关从业者带来更多独特且富有启发性的思考,从而推动行业的创新与进步。

Development Forum of Habitat Interior Design - Forum One

Preface

The 24th China Xiamen International Stone Fair has been held in Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center on March 16-19, 2024. With the global economic recovery, the stone industry, design sector, cross-border platforms and media gathered in Xiamen to explore the trend of stone under the new business format as well as promote the symbiosis and development of the industry.

Innovative design is the key to activate the stone in that design can fully tap into the characteristics of stone to be applied in different fields. How to activate stone in residential design and enhance its value and attractiveness has become an important topic of concern.

In 2024, with the theme of "The Symbiotic Practice of Stone Brand and Habitat Design", the Forum invited curators and stone brand representatives to provide a platform for communication and jointly explore how to activate stone in habitat design.


On March 16, the Development Forum of Habitat Interior Design was held at Hall D1. The chief curator of XHDLF and founder of SLD Group, Mr. Steve Leung made an opening speech of the forum via video clip.

Mr. Steve Leung said that design is a force that can break boundaries, explore infinite possibilities, and drive changes. This coincides with the theme "Say Hi" of Xiamen Stone Fair 2024 and the theme "To Activate" of Xiamen Habitat Design and Life Festival. We hope to provide face-to-face communication through this opportunity and get inspired, so as to find and activate more possibilities, bring more innovation and breakthroughs, and add more value to the industry and society.

Subsequently, the curators, Mr. Louis Liou, Mr. Zhao Rui, Ms. Xie Hui, Mr. TT. Tang and Mr. Sing Huang delivered keynote speeches on their design projects respectively. In addition, they had dialogue with stone brand representatives, Mr. Huang Jianfeng from Fujian Liwaistone Co., Ltd., Mr. Yuan Junyun from Fujian HanRong Stone Co., Ltd, Ms. Chen Jinyi from J&S MARBLE, Mr. Qi Fei from YINGLIANG GROUP, Ms. Zhou Shanshan from BELLISSIMO, and the moderator, Ms. Wu Wenyue from BOWU. They talked about the inspiration of curating this exhibition, and shared the experiences in the cooperation process between designers and stone enterprises.


 

“I chose ‘the Breath of the Universe’ as the design concept to echo the theme of the exhibition. Nowadays, there is no limit to the exploration of the universe. I hope that people who enter this exhibition space can feel the possibility of endless exploration of space, and experience the interweaving of mystery and emotion. I used hot pink fur to cover the floor and wall to present the contrast of materials, such as soft and hard, thereby showing the stone energy.”

“Deep in space, there is a device as sacred as a meteorite. It is not only the embodiment of the material energy of the universe, but also the interpretation of space and time, symbolizing the rhythm of the universe and the feedback of energy. The flickering light, like breathing and pulse, resonates with the universe.

The space blends stone, fur, light and sound to create a mystical and sacred atmosphere. Before entering, it attracts you to explore. When immersed in it, you will be moved by its sacredness, feeling comfortable, safe and warm. What I have created is not only a space, but also a cosmic microcosm of energy flow.”

 

“Serpeggiante is a classical natural stone with simple veins. I have been thinking about how to show the most natural characteristics of this material. Every time I go to the quarries and see the raw stone blocks, I am deeply touched by its original charm. Therefore, I decided to construct the stone in pure yet powerful shapes, like layers of rock, showing a unique beauty. Based on these thoughts, I formed a preliminary design concept.”

“The whole space is like a stone block extracted from the quarry, showing the original texture and character of the material. Initially, we planned to design the space merely with a raw stone block, but later we created a product to add ambience. Also, we used a structure of heavy bottom and light top, and a configuration of stone texture from intensive to sparse.

In addition, considering the overall atmosphere of the exhibition venue and the visitors’ experience, we also designed some furniture such as tea tables, and simulate the lighting conditions of the site to make the space more comfortable. The purpose of design is not to show off skills, but to present the essence and beauty of the stone. Therefore, we keep adjusting the project scheme during the process of design.”

 

“The main stone material is the marble, Yinxun Palissandro. I was impressed by its luxuriousness which was quite different from my previous design style that I had no clue how to start my design in the beginning. At that time, I happened to go to Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang where I was amazed by its magnificent scenery and reminded of the luxurious stone of Yinxun Palissandro.

Looking closely at this marble, you will find the veins are similar to mountains, rivers, lakes and sand, revealing the wild beauty of the nature. So I decided to combine the desert with the stone material to construct a cave, symbolizing the first habitat of human beings.”

“In order to create a unique experience, I deliberately used yellow sand as an auxiliary material to contrast with the hard and cold feeling of the stone. Moreover, I designed a narrow entrance of the booth to isolate the quiet space from the outside. Walking into the space, you will feel the gorgeous beauty of Yinxun Palissandro.

It is not only a space to display stone, but also a place that can awaken people's sensory perceptual system. I hope that this exhibition space would enable the recolonization of the beauty of the nature and materials, and rethink the lifestyle.”

 

“We hope to reinterpret the unique charm of stone through the dimension of time. In this space design, we construct a hallway at the entrance like an art gallery or museum. When people step inside, they will be drawn to a window that shows the ruins which may have been formed by the passing of time. We hope that the visitors will feel the unique charm of stone and time in this space.”

“We piled up a wall with small pieces of raw blocks to make a wall, creating a unique visual effect. In terms of the space design, we adopted the approach of interior architecture, by stacking different boxes to create rich layers, providing a unique way to enter the space. Moreover, different cutting and processing methods were applied to show various surface finishes of stone. There are thousands of years of traces of stone, and we hope that through this design, we can express our feelings.”

 

“This is my fourth time to participate in the Habitat Interior Design Exhibition. This time Mr. Steve Leung had high hopes for the theme of the exhibition - 'To Activate' that he put forward several key requirements: first, to facilitate the development of stone industry through design; second, to adhere to the concept of environmental protection and sustainable development; third, to make the exhibition suitable for audiences of all ages. Faced with these requirements, I feel that there is a long way to go. The Exhibition has been successfully held thanks to the support of all parties. And I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you.”

“Ten years ago, the opening ceremony of Nanjing Youth Olympic Games left a deep impression on me, and the positive energy conveyed by the young people still reverberates in my mind.
The power of unity is exactly what I hope to present in this exhibition. Therefore, by collaborating with BELLISSIMO, we used eight Italian marbles, each of which has a unique charm. Through the integration of these stones, we created an interesting art space.

Also, the refraction of mirrors turned out to be a surprising effect for this space. I hope that in this way, we will be closely united together and contribute to the development of the stone industry. I was very happy when I saw everyone walking around and taking pictures. This is exactly what we are looking for - a broad, inclusive and vibrant atmosphere.”



Moderator: What do you think is the relationship between the characteristics of the stone and the universe?

Louis Liou: When we first conceived the concept of the universe, we were inspired by the idea that life was born in the Big Bang. We chose Regis Gray as the main material which has deep grey tones and slightly shinning gold flakes, as if depicting the core of the universe after the Big Bang. Therefore, I want to use such stone to express the feeling of the universe, to show the vitality of the universe.

The serene nature of Regis Gray creates a variety of expressions and textures in the space. From variations in thickness to multiple forms of surface material, it shows endless possibilities. This diversity not only enriches the design elements, but also gives us a deeper understanding of the potential of stone.

 

Moderator: We found that Mr. Zhao used the least material and the most concise method to present the space. Restraint and preciseness are also the key words of your design philosophy. However, the more simple in the design, the more complex or difficult process it may be. Do you think that the process from design sketch to the finished project has put forward a lot of new problems for the enterprise?

Zhao Rui: I think it is not challenging for these excellent manufacturers. Nowadays, Chinese stone companies have a fairly high level in processing and technology around the globe. The only challenge is probably the overall budget of the exhibition, so we mainly discussed about financial issues rather than technical difficulties during the process.

Moderator: It is the 4th year that HOGLORIA STONE participate in the Habitat Interior Design Exhibition. Is there any changes of the relationship between interior space and stone companies during these years? And what changes have taken place in HOGLORIA STONE as well?

Yuan Junyun: We are a traditional manufacturing enterprise who are lack of understandings of design and art. However, every time we participate in this exhibition, the designers were guiding us to learn and try something new.

Just like Mr. Zhao said, there is no difficulties. In fact, we were surprised by the design drawings that Mr. Zhao gave us which was full of details, even a millimeter expansion joint was marked precisely. We could start the processing directly according to the design sketch. Therefore, wa are honored to have the chances to participate in the exhibition each year and cooperate with such brilliant designers who always inspire us.

 

Moderator: We found that you rarely used stone in your past projects. Will you consider to apply more stone materials in your projects in the future after this exhibition?

Xie Hui: Yes, I think so, but in a more ingenious way. Stone is a gift of the nature, and has taken a lot of time to deposit. The beauty of stone is very unique. If we, the designers, cannot use it appropriately, it will cause a lot of waste. So we should be more rational to think, to explore, and to moderately use stone to make it as a perfect finishing touch in the space.

Moderator: Ms. Chen has been devoting in stone industry for years. What method do you think will help classical stone varieties to be widely welcomed again? Do you believe that there is a saying of “fashion trends” in stone industry?

Chen Jinyi: As a gift of the nature, stone has its unique color, texture and feeling, which comes from the energy of the nature. Ms. Xie Hui said, she felt a strong impact at the first glance when she saw the marble, Yinxun Palissandro. After feeling it closely, we will understand some things brought to us beyond this material.

I just listened to Ms. Xie Hui's sharing and I could tell her transformation from extensive use of materials to profound understanding of materials. It is insightful for us as material suppliers. We used to focus on the material itself, such as the texture, color and the different demand for materials in various spaces. However, the cooperation with Ms. Xie this year allowed us to understand the stone applications in another form. The words "activate" and "awaken" mentioned by Ms. Xie Hui are both verbs. What she emphasizes is not to pile up space with materials, but to make people feel the nature in the space. The core of this design concept deeply moved me.

 

Moderator: Do you think different kinds of stone have emotions and personalities that make it irreplaceable by other materials?

TT. Tang: Material is a significant factor while designing. We have been exploring the beauty of stone by deepening the recognition from surface to inner mechanism to find the traces of time. When applying materials in the space, we tend to choose the natural ones rather than plastic products. This authentic material is a key element to create a vibe that it gives people a feeling of down-to-earth.

Moderator: What do you think is the necessary condition for a stone enterprise to become a brand?

Qi Fei: The stone industry in China has been developed for over 30 years with challenges. Although stone sector is a small part in the field of building and construction industry, its particularity - uncontrollability and heavy asset characteristics makes it play an important role in interior space. However, for a long time, the stone industry has lacked an opportunity to face the public directly.

With the iteration and renewal of industry personnel, we began to realize the importance of branding, experience and emotional transmission. In the past ten years, we have tried to reveal the charm of stone widely with the help of media exposure. We firmly believe that it is only through design that the value of stone can be truly enhanced. Today, I am very happy to see that some designers and media friends have a strong interest in stone. They began to pay attention to and talk about Yingliang Group and other stone brands, to see the breakthrough and progress of the stone industry. This is undoubtedly gratifying.

 

Moderator: The theme of your exhibition space is “Resonance”. What kind of resonance do you want to achieve with the audience in this space? What are the resonance between human and stone?

Sing Huang: Stone is a part of the nature. The relationship between people and stone is actually a subtle connection between people and nature. Therefore, for this exhibition, I designed a human figure, which aims to relate this natural material with the human image. We hope to express the idea of the harmonious integration of human and the nature through this design space. It is not only the pursuit of art, but also the responsibility of each of us.

Moderator: We noticed that the stone brands are increasingly engaged in design projects. Does the company attach great importance to design? When designers propose project plans and ideas, what dimensions will BELLISSIMO consider comprehensively to provide solutions to achieve the project?

Zhou Shanshan: We believe that good materials are not limited to building and construction, the intrinsic vitality far exceeds their cost value. Design plays a key role in this process, which can effectively stimulate the potential vitality of the material. The design exhibition of Mr. Huang well proved this. From concept to presentation, the project is full of surprises. By cooperating with designers, we strive to put their creativity and ideas into practice. Mr. Huang combines hard materials with emotions to achieve a harmonious interaction between human and the nature. Although the human figures and tower structure seem simple, it is full of difficulties during the processing period. Therefore, we decided to use ultra-thin stone techniques to hide the steel structure inside the wood structure and cover it with ultra-thin stone to ensure both safety and ingenuity.

The Development Forum of Habitat Interior Design is a section of Xiamen Habitat Design & Life Festival, aiming to inspire the practitioners of stone and design industries through the in-depth dialogue and ideological collision between designers and stone enterprise representatives, so as to promote the innovation and progress of the industry.
