Preface
The 25th China Xiamen International Stone Fair was held from March 16 to 19, 2025, at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center. As a global professional stone exhibition, this event featured an exhibition area of 191,000 sq.m., divided into eight specialized categories.
In the wave of design, the potential of stone is being continuously activated. Surging Design Power - Stone Innovation focuses on the transformation of stone in modern design, exploring its innovative applications and value enhancement in living spaces. At the same time, it emphasizes the sustainable development of stone and anticipates its future evolution and trends.
As pioneers in the industry, designers leverage their rich practical experiences and forward-thinking creativity to constantly uncover and elevate the vitality and potential of stone. Through their in-depth sharing, this surging design force becomes a key driver of stone innovation, leading the upgrade and development of the stone industry and co-creating an ideal living environment.
On March 17, the Habitat Interior Design Development Forum [Surging Design Power · Stone Innovation] was successfully held in Hall A8 of the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center, with an enthusiastic on-site atmosphere. Co-curators of the Xiamen Habitat Design & Life Festival, Mr. Ray Chuang, Senior Vice President/Managing Partner of CCD, and Mr. Wang Peng, Founder/Design Director of Peng & Partners, took the stage successively to deliver design presentations on distinct themes.
Mr. Ray Chuang,
Senior Vice President/Managing Partner of CCD
"Much of our inspiration comes from the observation of our clients, carefully crafting each solution based on their real-life daily needs. We place great emphasis on effective communication during projects, maintaining close contact with clients to ensure accurate information delivery. Especially when dealing with key clients, we insist on face-to-face communication to avoid unnecessary detours and ensure efficiency and precision.
With the rise of work-from-home, our working methods, living environments, and dietary habits have undergone significant changes. In our design practice, we continually break the fixed boundaries of different functional areas, moving toward cross-disciplinary integration, diversification, and blurred distinctions. In some of our successful projects, such as hotels, reception areas, or presidential suites, we focused on creating multifunctional, integrated spatial experiences. For the future of spatial design, we can summarize it as: 're-exploration.' We strive to understand our clients' needs, uncover their intrinsic demands, and pay attention to every detail to craft unique spatial experiences."
Mr. Wang Peng,
Founder/Design Director of Peng & Partners
"For this exhibition, we named it 'Sea Wave.' Although the name was adjusted later in the process, the photos taken yesterday reflected our thematic vision — it evokes a feeling of being on the ocean's surface. Beyond the exhibition itself, we also regard this work as a space with classical wonder, infused with urban charm.
During the design process, we faced a challenge: with so many stone innovations and stone artworks in the market, would there still be a need for more? Therefore, we decided not to take on this design directly but instead adopted an approach akin to music composition, using software-driven model production where different sound parameters generate the models. In the exhibition hall, videos help visitors better understand this concept. We could sense profoundly how the texture of the stone became particularly vivid under the interplay of shifting lights and the multidimensional sensation of ocean waves, as if truly among the waves.
What we particularly care about is that a piece of work should not only possess formal beauty but also a clear conceptual foundation and, ultimately, the ability to be put into forms — this is a principle we always stick to."
With the inspiring presentations from the two designer guests, the 5th Habitat Interior Design Development Forum came to a successful conclusion.
Though the forum ended, the force of design shall not cease. We hope that by the sharing of these designs, new perspectives will be opened for the innovative application of stone in contemporary living spaces, continuously expanding the boundaries of stone applications and contributing to the vigorous development of the industry.
